One Simple Act has presenter resources for workshops, presentations and community programs that Alberta groups or organizations can deliver on their own.

Activities

These self-delivered programs can be presented to homeowners, tenants, businesses, communities and schools. Comprehensive toolkits and resources are also available for audiences at Schools, at Home, at Work, or in Communities.


 

Greening your Home Presentation

Where should you focus your money and time to have the greatest impact on reducing waste, conserving water and increasing the energy efficiency of your home? This One Simple Act presentation will highlight ideas on where to start. It will also provide some tips on how to reduce your environmental footprint even further. This shorter 20-30 minute presentation is perfect for community groups, offices, conferences and service clubs with an unlimited number of participants.

Be Green and Clean Workshop

Take a look in your kitchen. Green cleaning solutions can be found in your home right now. This workshop looks at ingredients used in many of the standard cleaners that we use everyday and provides eco-friendly alternatives. Using readily available ingredients, this session provides cleaning recipes that will save you money and reduce your environmental footprint.

From Farm to Fridge Workshop

The options available in the grocery store can be overwhelming: paper, plastic or re-usable; local or organic; bulk or packaged? What is the best choice? This presentation examines some common choices made everyday surrounding the food we eat, and focuses on how to reduce the environmental impact of your food choices.

Composting Workshop

One-third of our household waste is organic material. Did you know it can be composted and turned into valuable supplement for lawns, gardens and trees? Learn how to start a backyard compost bin, how to maintain it, some of the common problems you may encounter and simple solutions for addressing them. A brief section of this presentation is about vermicomposting. Red Wiggler worms eat organic waste too and this is an indoor alternative to backyard composting. A vermicompost can be used in apartments, classrooms and office lunch rooms.

Reusable Bag Program

Did you know that an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide? Canadians use over 9 billion plastic bags a year. That’s about 17,000 bags per minute.
